How To Fast Forward Video Without Controls
Okay, this may totally amount to internet marketing cock-blocking, but I had to do it. So many people have voiced frustrations with this so I thought I’d help y’all out.
Over the last couple years I’ve heard one complaint more so than just about anything else in internet marketing, and that is frustration with videos that have no controls. These videos will not allow you to fast forward, or rewind, and don’t even think about hitting the refresh button or clicking anything on the page or you’ll have to start the entire video all over from the beginning.
Now there is a reason why these type of videos have become so common place. The bottom line is they work. People have preconceived notions all the time, and if you don’t force someone to sit through the set up of a video sales letter, it’s very unlikely that they will be interested in your product or service if they are allowed to see the price tag right away. Therefore it’s a clever tactic, it’s just a bit annoying.
However, I’m super impatient. While I understand why the marketers do this, I too just want to see the bottom line. Show me the pitch already. So, if you are anything like me, I think you’ll really dig this tip on how to fast forward videos without controls and watch them at your own pace.
You’ll need a free tool called the Free Wimpy Desktop FLV Player. You can pick it up for free by clicking here.
It works for Mac and PC and they don’t require you to opt in or anything. For instructions on how to fast forward the videos without controls, watch the video below.
Oh, quick side note…
When filming this video I just randomly picked this particular video to use as an example. I had no idea I’d get hammered with 11 (yes I said eleven) exit pops. It’s pretty comical. Please excuse the foul language.
Feel free to share this video with anyone you think it may help out.
Cheers,
Jason
PS: In the comments below you’ll see quite a few people have suggested various Firefox plug ins or other tools that will allow you to do the same thing. Also, keep in mind that not all videos are .flv files. Some may be .mov, .mp4, .wmv, .m4v, etc etc.
Thanks folks.

Hey Jason,
I thought about doing a post on how to do that but never got around to it.
I usually just view the video online instead of cluttering up my hard drive with all of those things.
That was madness with all of those exit-pops! Funny, I just did a post on how Firefox 4 will impact exit-pops on my blog today. What a coincidence…
Great video buddy!

Jason,
I use enounce.com – (I’m sure there are others out there too)…it’s a paid software that lets you speed up any video a click of a mouse up to 3 x faster. I love it, and use it to skim through not only sales videos, but also through video tutorials and trainings.
It cuts out a lot of wasted time…and majorly helps my productivity.

Yeah, some people have told me about Enounce Ken. Thanks for reminding me.
Holy hell man! That is just insane. Started with goal in mind and ended up giving us all a lesson on bad marketing.
yeah, exit pops are the norm now on clickbank products… I see so many emails for them, I’m used to clicking through and seeing the price-usually they have 10-20 bucks off by the end.
I also like checking clickbank marketplace to see if they have upsells under the product info where it has commission amount, gravity, etc.
That’s alot of work to get the video-I just hit the download button that pops up by the video for real player, then go the the video in RealPlayer Downloads folder. If I open it up with windows media player classic or something like VLC it will show the video length too
It seems the lower the price product, the more exit pops and stuff they use. Kinda interesting…
Unbelievable!!! ha! seriously, 11… and ending up on the purchase page. i wonder what the follow up emails to their customers are like…
definitely NOT a marketing strategy for the long term.
haha I just noticed myself in the top right corner of your vid at 0:10.
Love the cameo.
Great tip too J-Mo.

Great tip Jason. Here’s a cool shortcut for everyone will make it much easier 90% of the time. (Used Wimpy ’till I found this. Requires Firefox, don’t know if they have a IE version?) Get “DownloadHelper” as a FF plugin. Download “GOMPlayer” (both free obviously). Now you can download 90% of all the videos you see. GOM is almost untouchable as playback. Tons of setting available. And that’s the free version. Take Care all. Thanks again Jason.
